Integrated Waste Management
Recology holds an exclusive franchise agreement for the collection of waste and recycling in the City of Hollister, the City of San Juan Bautista, and most parts of Unincorporated San Benito County.
The Integrated Waste Management Department is responsible for oversight of landfill operations and the county refuse/recycling contract. In addition, this department serves as lead agency for the San Benito County Integrated Waste Management Regional Agency, which consists of the unincorporated county and cities of Hollister and San Juan Bautista and is responsible for compliance with State of California mandated waste diversion goals of 50% (AB 939). This department also implements the county-wide Household Hazardous Waste program and Small Quantity Generator program for qualifying business hazardous waste.
The San Benito County Integrated Waste Management Regional Agency is primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state mandated regulations that ensure public health and safety related to refuse and household hazardous waste.
