The office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors provides several important services to the public and administrative services to the Board of Supervisors including but not limited to the following:


  • Provides public notice of Board of Supervisors meetings to conduct the public’s business effectively at meetings
  • Coordinates the filing and hearings of appeals of property valuations and actions of the Assessment Appeals Board.
  • Maintains detailed records of the Board’s actions, which is available for review by the public and other county staff
  • Maintains records, roster and vacancy postings for Board appointed Boards and Commissions.
  • Provides informational services to the public and access to public records.
  • Serves as the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors responsible for all records and agenda management functions of the office.


Research of County records including ordinances, resolutions, Board agendas, minutes, and background material can be obtained at the Clerk of the Board’s office during regular business hours. Copies are available upon request, fees may apply.

  Board of Supervisors Meetings


 In accordance with the California Ralph M. Brown Act, Board of Supervisors Meeting Agendas and Agenda Packets will be posted in this section of the county website and at the following physical locations at least 72 hours prior to the meeting session:

  • The front entrance of the San Benito County Administration Building, 481 4th Street, Hollister, CA 95023-3840.
  • the front entrance of the Old San Benito County Courthouse, 440 5th St., Hollister, CA 95023.

In compliance with the requirement of the Maddy Act, Government Code 54970, the following appointment list is posted on or before December 31st if each year. The list provides members of Boards, Commissions and Committees in San Benito County, CA and the dates of their terms of office as of the time of this posting. NOTE: The names on this list are subject to change based on resignation or other unexpected vacancies.  This list is currently undergoing updates but is available for public viewing.

San Benito County Elections


The San Benito County Clerk-Auditor-Recorder is an elected office consisting of the Office of the County Clerk, the County Auditor, and the County Recorder as well as the Registrar of Voters.

The Honorable Joe Paul Gonzalez is the San Benito County Clerk-Auditor Recorder who also serves as the Registrar of Voters.  His office is responsible for handling all elections in San Benito County.
